It is to this end that I would like to share some of what I have learned through my own experience."
  • TRUST - support and info for people with anxiety disorders. Information, resources and support for people with anxiety. It includes chat, newsletter, message board and anxiety pals. There is also a section on where to find help in your area.

    • Online Depression Screening Test - "ODST is a preliminary screening test for depressive symptoms that does not replace in any way a formal psychiatric evaluation. It is designed to give a preliminary idea about the presence of mild to moderate depressive symptoms that indicate the need for an evaluation by a psychiatrist."

      Depression in children and adolescents

      • Depression and Bipolar Disorder in Adolescents - "Well meaning parents or teachers may think that a young person is unhappy or moody because it's a natural part of being young.  This is especially true for adolescents, who are expected to be "hormonal" and rebellious.  Persistent unhappiness or moodiness is not normal for anyone."

      • Child Abuse and Multiple Personality - Abstract -- The syndrome of multiple personality is associated with a high incidence of physical and/or sexual abuse in childhood. Occasionally those with multiple personality abuse their own children. Multiple personality is difficult to diagnose both because of the nature of the syndrome and because of professional reluctance. Although multiple personality is most difficult to diagnose during childhood because of the subtlety of the syndrome. The much higher morbidity found in adult cases makes it imperative that it be diagnosed and treated early in order to avoid further abuse and greater morbidity and to shorten treatment time. This review describes the history, clinical features and treatment of multiple personality, particularly in children, in addition to exploring the professional reluctance to make the diagnosis.
