When they finished questioning her she came back in the house and told me and her mother what had happened outside. I went out to see if the car was still there but it was gone. I went to work at 11pm, as I was working a night shift job and attempted a number of times to call the CPS agency. I didn't get anyone to talk to. The next day I called several more times and finally got a hold of someone. I told them what had happened. I was told that in cases where they want to talk only to the child they will have the child called out of class in school and talk to them there. That for the investigator to have handled it the way she did would only be if they felt the child needed to be talked to immediately. I was also told that the report she was viewing stated that the case was dropped by the investigator after talking to the child.
Within a week, there were messages on the HIP message board regarding my being investigated by the Alleganey Child Protective Service, and what the details of the complaint were. I called CPS and was told that the only person(s) that would have that information is the person that made the complaint. The details of the complaint were not public information when a case is investigated and dropped against someone. I was told that whoever wrote the message was probably the person that had called in the false report. Due to the joy over this investigation that was expressed by Ruth Parris, Christine Brandon, and Pat Stubbs on the HIP message board it is hard to tell which of them made the call to CPS, but as the investigator said to the child the "call came from out of state", and as I was told while on the phone with CPS, "only the person(s) that had made the call would know the details" that were on the HIP message board. I asked if a written statement could be sent to me stating there was a investigation of me by CPS and that it was dropped. She said yes, that CPS always notifies the party being investigated of the final outcome of their case. A week later I recieved mail that stated I had been investigated by CPS and the complaint was dropped.
I was never approached by CPS. Never spoke with the investigating CPS worker that talked to my girlfriends daughter that night at the curb. Any contact with CPS was made by me, trying to contact them to find out what the situation was and to make myself fully available to them. I also felt that their method of questing this child as she was putting the trash out on the crub was inappropriate and told them so.
