ALL EMAIL, AND OTHER MATERIAL I USE OR MAKE REFERENCE TO ON THIS SITE WILL BE MADE AVAILABLE TO ANY INVESTIGATIVE AGENCY.

I spoke with Bruce Whealton for the first time, via telephone, in August 1999.   A group member had sent me his web site address and ask if I would call him and see he was able to see another client.  I had tried for a number of months to get this person to seek out a therapist in her community and she was finally ready to do so.  She also agreed that if I called and set an appointment with him for her, she would go to it.  Therefore, I didn't hesitate to make the call to Mr. Whealton's office and set an appointment between the two of them for the following Saturday.  He wrote me an email shortly afterwards describing his sessions, evaluations and test he had given my friend.  Here is a copy of the email I recieved from him:

Hi John,
First glad you are doing better.  I heard from (omitted) you had lung problems.  I hope things continue to
improve.
I just met with (omitted) again today.  I continued my assessment using the DDIS.  I already had
her complete the DES and we discussed that.  I do feel more confident that she does have
DID versus DDNOS (Dissociative Disorder Not Otherwise Specified).  If no alter had been taking
executive control of the body and if there was no amnesiac barriers then I'd go with DDNOS but I'm getting
more evidence that the alters are coming out, taking executive control and she is just not noticing
it.  She talked about features of meeting people she didn't know and finding items that she didn't remember
buying or loosing items and them re-appearing.  There's other evidence of amnesia when other alters
have been out.
So far I have met (omitted), who denied ever coming out except on special occassions and that there
was no reason to come out.  I recommended the book, "First Person Plural."  It just came out this year.
The author is a person, who I believe is far into recovery from MPD/DID.  The author as a matter of fact
went on to get a doctorate in psychology.  Anyway, this book describes a person who first experienced MPD
symptoms at 37.  He (the host personality) was also quite co-conscious when the alters were out.  The book
points out how this is different from Sybil who lost time and blanked out when an alter took control.
I'm also starting a support group for persons with MPD and their family.  One client actually wanted to
see a support group started and to invite her family, so at this time I'm going to invite family members that
the person wants to invite.  It will be mainly educational, as many people have so many questions.
As a matter of fact, I am trying to get a speaker to come to the following meeting on the 30th and present things
from the client's perspective.
Do you know of any good resources on Ritual Abuse (Cult Ritual Abuse).  I feel like one of my clients with MPD is a
survivor of Ritual Abuse and that may mean programming - I don't know how familiar you are with that but it does
complete the issues (as if tx. wasn't complicated enough as it is).
Thanks for all you do,
Bruce

I thought it was very unusual that a therapist would openly share his assessement or evaluation of a client with someone the client knows from the Internet, and thought it even more strange this therapist would ask if I knew of any resources related to "Cult Ritual Abuse" or "programming".   After sending me another email expressing his having a hard time getting some of this persons "other alter personalities to come out" and asking me for some "assistance", I sent him a log of a conversation where I was encouraging those that presented themselves in the chat room to speak to Mr. Whealton.  If a problem or question was brought up I would say, "thats a good question, your therapist should be able to answer that", or I would say "I know thats a hard thing to deal with but now you have a therapist that can help you if you will open up to him."  The point of sending Mr. Whealton this log was to show him that I was encouraging this client to open up to him, and to ask him if he saw something I could maybe do differently that might help the person in the chatroom.  I felt pretty uncomfortable with his willingness to discuss this persons sessions with me in emails so I thought I should remind him that I am not a therapist as well in the following email:

Bruce,
In the log below I talk to (omitted), and two other identities, (omitted) and (omitted), if you
have a hard time with what the little one is saying let me know I have
gotten pretty good at reading what she says to me.  LOL
I hope you are having a good day, and I'll continue to try to get a few of
these logs to you every few days.
As I have told you I am not a therapist, just another survivor willing to
help where I can.  If you see some way I might be better able to help (omitted)
or you in this situation, do say so, k?

Sincerely,
John Freifeld

Including the email above I have three (3) emails where I tell Mr. Whealton I am not a therapist.  Mainly because I start to feel that he is asking me for more "assistance" than I can give him.  In one email he says that this friend had "spoke in a different language".  I told him that I knew she was raised in a Pentacostal Church that believed in hands on healing, speaking in tongues, etc, but was not aware of any language she knows other than English.  He writes back and says he believes its a Russian language she was speaking in his office.  I felt inadequate to say anything more to him about it other than to suggest he try to record it and have a langustics expert determine what it is he is hearing.  I know my limitations and therefore continue to encourage this friend to stay in therapy, but I back away from any more email communications with Mr. Whealton.
*********************

Below shows where the conflict between myself and Mr. Whealton began.

After discovering that my girlfriend had relapsed into active prescription drug addiction and was not at the time showing any sign of moving back into recovery, I was offered a place to live by this womans husband.  I had known them both for approximately 8 months to a year and they were aware of the situation I was struggling with related to this girlfriend using.  I have been in recovery now for almost 13 years and didn't want to be in a relationship with someone who drinks or uses.  I came to Wilmington in Dec. 1999 to visit them and let them get a feel for me and me for them, and then moved here in approximately January or Feburary of 2000.  After being a resident in this friends home for 4-5 months I started to understand or realize what was going on in my friends therapy with Mr. Whealton.  I first tried to talk to her husband, who took the position that Mr. Whealton had a degree and a license and therefore was still trusting his clinical judgement.  In June 2000, after being told by this friend that Mr. Whealton had told her that he would have to "deprogram" her,  "because she was a victim of government mind control experiments, possibly with the knowledge and help of her parents",  I became very upset and wrote an email asking him if "deprogramming" someone who became under the impression or belief that they were government mind control victims in therapy, and there was nothing at all to support that idea or belief, would they not then be programmed by their therapist to believe in a delusion, manifested in therapy for the rest of their life?  Mr. Whealton wrote back and suggested I read a 800 page book called "Complex Dissociative Disorders".  I replied to Mr. Whealton with the following email;

Bruce,

You didn't really answer my question about why a therapist would "deprogram" someone when they have little or nothing to support the fact the client was ever programmed, and my statement/question that in doing so only contributes to the delusion of the client instead of disolves it.  Wouldn't you then have a client with the manifestation of a delusion (which began in the course of therapy) without it having ever been subjected to rationality or reality, that delusion being re-enforced by the therapists use of words such as "torture", "programmed" in therapy, as well as providing the client with more sensory input through documents, tapes, books, URL links etc on SRA and Monarch programming, then validation of the delusion being finalized by the therapist "deprogramming" the client.  Would you not now have someone "programmed" by the therapist to believe in the delusion for the rest of his or her life?

Seems like an easy enough question and deserves a straight answer.  Suggesting I read an 800 page book is obviously your way of avoiding a rather simple question.  I can show you were you have violated standards of care and ethics more than once without reading 800 pages of anything.  But I can assure you that I have read enough over the years that you are making a very big mistake to try to minimize, rationalize or justify your lack of professional ethics (regarding (omitted's) treatment) with me.

Here's the facts; There was no evidence of any SRA or Monarch programming or elements within (omitted) or her system before entering your office.  YOU introduced the SRA and the Monarch elements into her therapy. Using words and making insinuations that would be less than ethical in her treatment.  Then you sent her home with the Greenbraum Speech, followed by the Paper Clip Dolls book, followed by a cassette tape of a self professed Monarch programming victim, followed by links to web sites on the Internet related to SRA and Mind Control and Programming.  She created a delusion in therapy and you validated the delusion, verbally and with these materials.  Now you want to deprogram her or alters within her system??  And you don't think there is any thing unethical about what you have done?

I don't personally believe that your statement below is true:

("In terms of programming and RA/SRA, I never solicited a memory that was not already presenting itself.  Many from the False Memory Foundation will claim that therapists suggest memories or plant them by searching for things that are "repressed."  With (omitted), we never  searched for anything "repressed."  We worked with whatever she was presenting.")

When in session with (omitted) and (omitted's husband) you were searching for repressed memory and alters that weren't presenting when you started to ask them about the presence of Beta, Omega, Theta, and the other "programmed alters" that are described in the Greenbraum Speech.  There wasn't sufficient evidence that would support the idea that she was a victim of Monarch programming to solicit such an inquiry during therapy.  Being suspicious and having some evidence that presents itself is two different things.  Your "suspicion" took you in this direction.  She was not presenting a Beta, Omega, or Theta, or any of the other alters, when you started to call them by name and ask them to indicate if any one by these names were present within her system.  According to (omitted) and (omitteds husband), you had outlined what your suspicion was beforehand to qualify the questions you were about to ask, and you had sent the Greenbraum Speech to (omitted) prior to this session, something that I do not believe was based in any sound ethical practice.

Even (omitted's husband), who is not a multiple and surely not a Monarch programming survivor says that when you asked about "a doctor whose name was the same as a color," but before (omitted) responded, the first thing that came to his mind was "Green".  Keeping in mind the speech was in his home and he admits to having read portions of it) So, I am curious about how effective this line of questioning is at all, what treatment modality this would be aligned with, and if it doesn't produce more problems in therapy and for your client than otherwise would exist.  Also, I have been told that you attributed a lot of (omitteds) confusion and feelings of disorientation, to "spin programming", that you came right out and suggested or insinuated that this is what was going on.  Based on what I have seen go on with (omitted) during the course of this type of questioning and therapy, I can say I don't believe its done her any good and has caused her problems that otherwise were not presenting themselves prior to it.  Yes, she was experiencing some abstract memory material, and some body memories that weren't easily explained but to my knowledge nothing that should have pointed to Monarch programming or SRA as the first impression of this material.

I've been around for a while.  I don't ask the question because I don't know the answer, I ask it because I do know the answer and want a straight response from you on it.  Also, I might point out here too, that several cases have made it to court regarding claims of SRA and project Monarch over the past 15-20 years.  After these two subjects became sensationalized.  There is not one standing case that wasn't thrown out of court, or dismissed by the court in its final resolution.  No monetary damages have ever been rewarded to anyone, nor has any convictions resulted from such a case.  Four cases filed in the past 12 yrs have resulted in the courts finding of misguidence and incompetence by the parties therapists.

So, please avoid using what has "almost" happened in the legal arena as justification for what has gone on with (omitted) in your care.

I venture to say that you can't tell me (omitteds) mother or fathers first names, or ages, her siblings names or how many siblings she has, their ages, how many times (omitted's) mother has been remarried, what (omitted's) father did for a living outside his military experience or any number of other things you would know if you had done a thorough family history on (omitted).  Can you tell me which alters head was held under water by (omitted's) mother or how old she was, which one was repeatedly kicked in the privates and stomach, which one was kicked and punched in the mouth and had her mouth gagged repeatedly with a cloth at the hands of (omitted's) mother, which one had her arm and legs "set on fire" by a belt in the hands of her mother? Which alter stood in a parking lot crying when their mother decided to drive away and pretend she was never coming back? Which two alters went to school during majority of her elementary and junior high school years? At what age were they when they were being sexually abused by a female babysitter, how old was the babysitter?  What age was (omitted) the first time she was gang raped?  How many times has she been raped? What man in their life did they spend the most time hiding from when he was around?  Which alter stood at the kitchen sink doing dishes for approximately 9 hours as their mother repeatedly pulled the dishes from the cabinets and put them back in the sink to be washed again and again?
See, in your zeal, enthusiasm, and passion for the obscured, the abstract, you've seemingly passed right over the stuff that sits right on top, the obvious abuses that by themselves, in and of themselves, are responsible for (omitted's) multiplicity.  Again, even if there were some validity in the "suspicion" of SRA, Monarch programming etc. you went into this area before (omitted) was even in therapy for 90 days! Before you knew her or her system at all.  She surely wasn't no where near a point of strength or stable enough to differentiate for herself what is reality and what is delusionary.  And surely vulnerable enough to believe most any scenario you presented as her therapist. None of your sessions were planned sessions, Instead of planning a therapy session, you appear to merely react to whatever direction a session spontaneously takes. Or if it was planned it was rather easily sidetracked by your client. You seem committed to pursuing ill-defined goals such as 'growth' and 'healing'.  These methods are great in that they play right into (omitted's) and her system's avoidance issues.  But ultimately the result is this; (omitted) has become more worrisome, feels more hopeless and despairing, has more anxiety now than at any time prior to her beginning therapy and feels far more confused. And is racked with nightmares unlike any she has ever had before therapy begin.  No "healing" has been brought about for her or those within, issues of present-day functionality have not been addressed at all or surely not to any degree worth noting.  Putting this and that "behind doors", "throw them into a lake", "go to your safe place", etc. sounds a lot like therapeutic avoidance by the therapist and has done nothing to really increase (omitted's) level of functioning or even lessen the strive her system feels over those things.

Am I upset over this? Yes, I am.  When (omitted) walked into your office it was as though my sister was being placed in your care.  Thats what (omitted) is to me, my sister.  And all I have done for the past few months is watch a continual process of deterioration take place as you chased the supposed "boggie man" of (omitted's) past.  When it has always been right there, on the surface being ignored because you were too busy looking for diabolical programming and deliberately created alters.  Feeding her information and input that runs contrary to any ethical standards of care, any healing or even real discovery that would facilitate bringing that healing about.  So yes, I am upset about this.
(omitted and omitted's husband) will decide for themselves what to do or not do regarding her therapy, but I can assure you that I am not going to stand by quietly while you continue to explore (omitted) for issues and elements that don't exist to appease your own fascination with the SRA and Monarch subjects, or anything of the sort, while watching her continue to deteriorate and lose touch with all reality as a result of her therapy.
I cannot and will not support what you have been doing in the least.  As far as I'm concerned, based on what is evidenced on a daily basis (with (omitted), within her system, and within her home) since she entered therapy with you, she is worse off today then the day she walked into your office for the first time.  I have talked with both (omitted's husband and omitted) about this, have encouraged them to discontinue any further therapy with you, and will help them find another therapist.  I will fully support any and all therapy that is geared towards her healing process and that is based solidly in the foundation of (omitted's) real history and experiences in life.  Should she ever cross the threshold into your office again, I hope that you will take the time to find out what that history is, and what their real experiences were and are, long before pursuing a course of therapy such as you have thus far.
You should be grateful that (omitted's husband) is her husband and not I, for if I were, I'd be filing a civil malpractice suit against you for what you have done with (omitted).
Sincerely,
John Freifeld

This letter to Mr. Whealton, which he knew threatened his brand of "therapy" being exposed, is the ONLY reason he went and jumped on the HIP bandwagon with Pat Stubbs.  He had known about HIP for 8 months or longer and didn't align himself with it at all, until he recieved the above email from me.  He did this not because he thought I had or was taking on the role of a therapist, but because he felt his being able to align himself with Pat Stubbs would be a way to give me a public black eye and discredit any action I might pursue against him.  Pat Stubbs loved having him jump on board because she thought she would have the credibility of a licensed therapist supporting her outragously ridiculous and false allegations.  After having buddied up, they filed complaints with both the NC Medical Board, and the NC Board of Psychology against me and then went to the Morning Star Newspaper.

Mr. Whealton's "dirty deeds" Get Exposed

Trying to find out more information I went to www.google.com on the Internet, after doing a search on my name I found the following post. (It can also be found by typing in "Help with cult therapist abuser" and searching)

Hi, my name is Brianna. I was wondering if anyone has ever been abused by
cult-like therapists. I sought help and was brought to a home that seemed
more like a psychiatric hospital. It is in Wilmington, NC and is operated by John
Freifeld. I want to warn people about him. He can be reached at
(phone number omitted) and his address is 5025 Lord Byron Rd. Wilmington, NC 28405
Avoid this man and if you see this number on your caller id, make note.
There is an investigation into his criminal activities. He is using drugs
to keep his followers from thinking clearly enough to see how much control
he has over them. When I went over to his place, to meet someone, I
thought, "this place is just like a damn psychiatric hospital." He had
falsely stated he had a licensed treatment center in his PA home before he
moved to NC. He keeps avoiding the cops. Now he is harrassing me. What
does he want? Why won't he leave me alone? please help!!! To learn more
about him go to http://personal.cfw.com/~spiritd1/hip.htm
and click on case #1. I heard his activities got the attention of newspaper
reporters and most recently PCWORLD magazine. There are others like him,
I'm sure.
Please help.

P.S. John Freifeld is a white supremecist but that doesn't make what he
does ok.  He tried to hook me in with his white power talk

I shared this post with a former client of Bruce Whealton's that told me that he was living with a woman that was a client of his, who he had diagnosed with a compulsive sexual addiction by the name of Brianna, but that she went by Ann, for short.
Approximately 2 weeks later I got a message on my answering machine from this woman Ann, stating Bruce was in his room with a file cabinet up against his door, screaming he was not going to let her in the room because he "knew she was going to kill him" and she goes on to say that he had been following me around Wilmington, calling our house repeatedly and hanging up, and taking pictures of our house.  (These pictures are not of my house, because the address he used above is not an address I have ever lived at.)  She says that she told Bruce to either give her my phone number or get out of her house, because she was going to find out what was happening or he was being kicked out.  She wants to know what is going on.  I recorded this message so I would have it when I went to the police about all this.  Upon getting this message I called her back.  We talked for a few minutes and I tell her that I found a post on the Internet about me, that she wrote.  She laughs and tells me she didn't post anything, that she is legally blind, does not know how to use a computer, and doesn't even know who I am.  She goes on to say that Bruce Whealton opened an email account for her using  briannas2001@hotmail.com so she could learn how to do email on the computer but because of her vision she was not able to use it.   I explained to her that I will have to charge the person that posted the message on the Internet, and she will have to testify that she didn't and who other than her has access to her email account.  She ask me if there is any other way to solve this situation so she doesn't end up in a court room and I tell her that she could make a statement or affavidavit and have it notarized.  I assured her this was the only way I would not pursue seeing her in court.  She agreed that she would make a notarized statement.  I told her I wanted it that day.  And would go there to pick it up.  She told me to wait until Mr. Whealton was out of the house, she would call me to go over and get it.  Later that day I was called and picked up a notarized affavidavit from her.  Here is what is says, the contents of this notarized affavidavit can be verified by calling the Attorney Generals Office or Bruce Whealton's licensing board.

My name is Ann S. Mr. Whealton has been stalking Mr. Freifeld on the Internet, and physically, going so far as to take pictures of Mr. Freifeld's home and following Mr. Freifeld around Wilmington, NC.  He has also been calling and harassing Mr. Freifeld on the telephone to my knowledge.  Many people have advised Bruce to not continue this behavior but he has not and will not listen to anyone.

I want this man out of my house but every time I try to get him out he threatens to have me committed.  He threatened to have me committed when I first attempted to file a complaint against him with the Board in early January, 2001.  I feared he would be able to do this because of him being a licensed therapist, so I didn't file the complaint at that time.  I am still scared that he will do this to me, and there is no reason for me to be committed anywhere.  I need help with getting qualified counseling and with getting Mr. Whealton out of my house without him being able to commit me in a hospital for trying to kick him out.  I am going to file a complaint with your office and it will outline exactly what has transpired since I became Bruces client to current date.

Mr. Whealton's Psychological Condition Gets Exposed

Here is a summary, as stated in the Order that revokes Bruce Whealton's license in the state of North Carolina, of a psychological evaluation of Bruce Whealton (Respondent) which was ordered by the Licensing board and Attorney General's office:

"Dr. David Ziff conducted a psychological evaluation of the Respondent, including psychological testing, which indicated (1) the possibility of significant suicidal tendencies; (2) the possibility of a schizophrenia spectrum disorder indicated by poor reality testing and disordered thinking; (3) the possibility of affected disorder; (4) difficulties in planning and decision making due to poor reality testing, disordered thinking, stress overload, and lack of a consistent problem solving skill: (5) difficulties balancing one's own needs versus those of others with the possibility of hostile and manipulative behavior towards others; (6) a generalized lack of skill and empathy in social relationships.
"A psychosocial assessment conducted by Dr. Jay Williams concluded with the recommendation that Respondent not practice psychotherapy without first undergoing intensive, long-term psychotherapy with a well-qualified therapist or if he does practice psychotherapy he should have weekly individual supervision with a well-qualified therapist."

Mr. Bruce Whealton's license to practice as a licensed therapist in the State of North Carolina was revoked on the 14th of June, 2001.

More Information to be place on this site regarding Mr. Bruce Whealton, however after a week of tragic terrorism, doctors appointments, scans, test, etc, I think enough is here to clearly show that anything Bruce Whealton has to say about me is at best questionable and seemingly motivated by resentment and retaliation.  I have filed criminal charges against him and am scheduled to be on court to testify against him on the 20th of Sept, 2001.

More documentation on Bruce Whealton's claims that he "surrendered" his license when it was in fact revoked, and his documented history of filing false reports and complaints with Police and Government agencies.
